We raise Pacific Blue, Dilute-Blue (White), Normal Green and American Yellow Mutation Parrotlets. They are also called "pocket parrots" because of their size. Fully grown, they usually measure about 5" long. We hand-feed our babies, after 10 days of age, to ensure their tameness and social ability. Our babies are abundance weaned and are never force-weaned. Parrotlets make excellent pets for college students or apartment dwellers as they are quiet chanters and do not scream. They do have the ability to talk and mimic sounds. Parrotlets are big eaters. Gram for gram, they eat more than a Macaw. Don't under-estimate the amount of food one of these little guys can put away. DNA sexing is not required for this bird, as gender can be determined at around 3 weeks of age.

The word "Parrotlet" is quite often mispronounced. According to the International Parrotlet Society, it is pronounced Parrot-let. The "t" is not silent. Many people pronounce it Parro-let, with the "t" silent...this is incorrect.
